Say The Thing

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 11, 2026

The short version: your messages are used only to generate the rewrite you asked for. No account is required, and we don't sell your information or use it for advertising or tracking.

What Say The Thing is

Say The Thing is a communication-coaching app that helps you rewrite messages with confidence and warmth. You type or paste a message, and the app returns a rewritten version for you to review and use as you choose.

How rewrites work

When you request a rewrite, the message you enter and a randomly generated installation identifier are sent to Say The Thing's server. Your message is then sent to OpenAI to generate the response. The installation identifier is used only for abuse-prevention rate limits.

Say The Thing does not keep a user-facing history of your messages or intentionally store message content in its own database. OpenAI may retain prompts and generated responses for up to 30 days in abuse-monitoring logs for safety and policy enforcement. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models unless the API account explicitly opts in.

No account required

You don't need to create an account, and we don't ask for your name or email address to use the app.

The app uses a randomly generated installation identifier stored in your device's Keychain. This identifier is used only to apply abuse-prevention rate limits. It is not used to identify you personally, create an account, advertise to you, or track you across apps or websites.

What we don't do

Service providers

Say The Thing relies on two service providers to operate:

Both act as service providers needed to operate the service.

A note on sensitive information

Please avoid entering highly sensitive personal information into the app — for example, government ID numbers, financial account details, or health records. The app only needs the message you want rewritten.

Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. Say The Thing does not receive your payment-card information. To verify that an active subscription is present, the app sends an App Store transaction identifier to Say The Thing's server and Apple.
